Located by the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and the Trossachs Mountains, Gartmore provides unparalleled access to woodland, rugged mountainous wilderness, hundreds of lochs and the purest cleanest rivers.

At the heart of the village is the local pub with its log fire and varied selection of good food, and the Village Shop and Post Office offering a the village shop wide choice of newspapers, wines, dairy, meat, fresh and organic produce.

The earliest records of any settlement in the district indicate that in the 3rd Century there was a monastic (Augustine) settlement on Inchmahome Island on the Lake of Menteith (just 4 miles away).

Gartartan Castle (300 yd. away) dates from the 13th century when the area was part of the Earldom of Menteith and was rebuilt in the l6th Century by the Clan MacFarlane. In the 18th Century Nicol Graham (Younger) of Gartmore House (200 yd. away) began to lease an area of land in order to lay the foundation of a village and as a result Gartmore is one of the best examples of an estate Village in Scotland.

Gartmore is situated in the South West corner of former Perthshire where the village street climbs steeply to 245 feet above sea level, giving extensive views along the Forth Valley to Stirling and to The Kingdom of Fife, south to the Campsie Fells and West to Ben Lomond. We are located on the Edge of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and the Trossach Mountains.
